About the Author
Debbie Troklus, CHC-F, CCEP-F, CHRC, CHPC is Managing Partner, Aegis Compliance and Ethics Center in Chicago, Illinois. She has more than 30 years of experience in the health care industry, and more than 16 of those years have been in the compliance arena. Prior to her joining Aegis, she served as the Assistant Vice President for Health Affairs/Compliance for the University of Louisville Health Science Center. In addition, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Health Care Compliance Association and the Advisory Board of the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics. She is President of the Compliance Certification Board and is a Past President of the Health Care Compliance Association.
Greg Warner is Director for Compliance at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and has served Mayo for more than 20 years in health care administration. He has served in the past on the Board of Directors for the Health Care Compliance Association and has held the positions of Secretary, Treasurer, First Vice President and President of the Association.

Good CHC Prep

This is short enough that you can read it cover to cover in your hotel room at an HCCA conference. I did that and passed the CHC exam on the first try. If you're reading this, you're probably trying to do the same thing and I recommend this book for that purpose.
Understand that the brevity of the book is a feature, not a bug. The CHC is simply not the kind of test that is looking for rote memorization and I think a lot of people get tripped up by the fact that this simply isn't the sort of thing you can study for with a deck of flashcards. There really isn't that much raw material and the test is about actually applying that material to situations on the ground. As such, this book is not about being a compliance officer so much as it is about learning to THINK like one.
PS: Another tip, a lot of good information is buried in the glossary, and after you pass the book continues to be useful with its model forms.

too short and too expensive

this book was long on dollars and short on content. this book is a little less than $1/ page. It gives an amazing amount of appendices to supplement its short content. provides a very fleeting overview of compliance even for a '101' book. If the price was less than half what is being charged then perhaps it would be an ok value. else, bypass this.

Overpriced and underdelievered

This book is ridiculously overpriced for the content. You can get most of the content by researching the internet. I was sorely disappointed.
