About the Author
David Spiteri was a founding member and President of one of Australia's first biker gangs. He is ‘semi-retired’ from the club now. He saw outlaw motorcycle clubs (OMCs) develop from loose affiliations of like-minded riders to the well structured and well connected groups we see today, with links to police, politicians and lawyers. David lives in Rosebank, Northern NSW.

Fiction or History

The bike world in Australia has always been explosive. Their attitude is well served seeing as their linage came from convicts sent down under from England. How can they not have an attitude? There were the outlaws from society cast aside to a place far from the eyes of social acceptance. Yes, they have an attitude and, yes, they think different!
The biker culture began late for Australia, however, it didn’t take long for clubs to evolve into a worldwide presents and begin making money. So the evolution of clubs worldwide. It didn’t take long for Australia to catch up.
This history/fiction begins with a few friends who liked to ride motorcycles, but, before they could own or even hope to own a motorcycle, they had to shovel s***, s*** for everyone’s garden they knew, and a few they didn’t know. The first thing this fledgling club noticed was the Harley Davidson motorcycle. Their Brit bikes couldn’t compare. They had to have one and the story begins.
All new clubs go through a growing process. They haven’t yet figured out what to do or how to do it! This fiction novel tells the story of three, maybe four quasi friends that started a brotherhood and maintained that brotherhood as they grew.
Yes, they sold drugs.
Yes, they sold parts from motorcycles.
In the day that is how it was done!
The disclaimer for this book says it all:

That makes this book fiction –
It’s written like a novel, dialog and all. How could you possibly remember the exact conversation of anything forty some odd years ago?
It may be based on history, but if you don’t know the history, it’s all fiction.

This is the best book yet on the Australian biker "bikie" scene

This is the best book yet on the Australian biker "bikie" scene. This does not just read like a police blotter sheet as many books in this genre do. My only gripe is the changing of the club names. Having read much about the Australian bikie scene it was not hard for me to figure out who was really who. Figuring this out was actually kind of fun, but I think it took away from the overall impact of the book. That being said, I understand completely why the author would choose to do this as he is still an active club member. I just wish he had come up with a cooler fake name than the Miners for his club.
