About the Author
Meet Robert W. Kembel, the man who wrote the books on Fibre Channel and Serial Attached SCSI (SAS). In his 35 years as a computer engineer, Robert has developed an exhaustive knowledge of Fibre Channel, FICON, ESCON and storage networking. During more than 28 years at IBM, he specialized in product development and I/O subsystem architecture and design. In his role at IBM, Robert represented the company's high-performance storage products at the Fibre Channel and SCSI committees, T11 and T10. Robert now combines his expertise in Fibre Channel technology with his abilities as a teacher and author. He's a popular instructor for professional training seminars and author of the Fibre Channel Consultant series. He has a talent for educating people about complex technology in clear and practical ways. Robert is a member of the National Committee for Information Technology Standards, which is responsible for developing the Fibre Channel standards. His books comprise the Fibre Channel Consultant series: Fibre Channel: A Comprehensive Introduction, Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop, and Fibre Channel Switched Fabric. Standards-based Reference Material

Outside of reading the standards specifications, this is the most comprehensive explanation you'll find about the technology. Kembel is a member of the standards body who created the technology, so speaks with considerable authority on the subject.

Don't be mistaken - this is a technical book. It is written in a technical manner - no "for morons" approach here. But it is exhaustive up through FC-BB-5, which is the standard published in 2009 that constitutes single- and multihop FCoE, which comprise over 95% of all FCoE implementations deployed.

Excelent review of the Korean Crisis

To everybody that enjoy reading the Stiglitz complains about the IMF mismanagement of country's financial crisis Restructuring Korea Inc. is a better analytical and empirical documented evidence of it. According to the authors much of the Korean crisis was due to the dismantle of the Korean Inc. by the Kim's goverments and the IMF without having a new model to put in place. One of the main thesis of the book is that the Korean economy recovered despite the IMF programme, not because of it. Excellent reading to everybody in the government and private sector of developing countries that did not have a clear picture about "What Happened to Asia" and are still afraid of the possible and probable coming new crisis.

A lyrical, philosophical and difficult read, but it will make you think.

This is essentially ecophilosophy written well enough to qualify as literature. I found it to be a tough read but extremely thought-provoking. She's an American who has spend years working with Australian Aborigines, and the wild dog in the title is the dingo. Just how wild is not clear, but the association between the natives and the dingo is close, and white Australia has maltreated both. The dingo is a sort of stand-in for nature more generally, and she is not optimistic.

Here's some of the philosophy. She elaborates on work by Sagan and Margulies and how those two described how we humans have two lives, the one we are born into and the one we create. Rose adds a third life: the life we bequeath to others. She describes how a death culture seeks to kill death as well as life. She discusses the work of James Hartley, that a group can be seen as a wave of memory, insight and expectation, a wave that lifts up and sustains the individuals of each succeeding generation, even as these individuals contribute to or modify that wave.

Rose would like to add animals to that wave, and sees a mixture of waves coursing through time. I am not doing full credit to a lyrical philosophy, but this is what you'll encounter along with those dingoes.

This is a heart-wrenching and important book from Debbie Bird Rose, reflecting on the extinctions of Earth Others, and the specific case of the dingo which some humans are deliberately exterminating as a pest. The grief is tangible.

Jack And Jill Went Up The Hill

I think this book is the best one I have read. I have read eight of the Alex Cross books so far. The story has the most complete picture of who James Patterson's Alex Cross is and what the "Dragon Slayer" does in order to stop these serial Killers. The killers are most often very intelligent psychopaths who have no feelings of guilt or remorse.
Alex goes through so much in every case that you wonder how anyone could not loose a sense of who he is. His children, grandmother, good friend and music seem to give him the mooring to keep his self coming back and going again. What diabolical people he is dealing with, "Jack and Jill" and the killer of the little children in his own neighborhood, at the same time. He does see the good in some people he interacts with and that makes thing better but you never know who are the good guys and who are the bad guys.
All in all, I believe this book could be a made into a very good movie but there is too much to tell so one of those FX network series might work.

I have to stop reading these so I can get some work done. The good guys are heroic but only human and the bad guys are vicious, psychotic, depraved. The crimes are described in detail which is at times emotionally difficult to read, but lets you know that what you hear on tv and read in the papers is that much more horrific and not just another killing--not to minimize any killing. Ad of course the plot makes you wonder... The emotions are also graphic and true. The one thing I don't like is that Det Cross says he doesn't want a relationship, but he risks causing problems in Christine's marriage by visiting her late one night. Really, he's only human, but he's better than that. Another thing is that he listed all the murders by name a couple of times, but he left out Sumner's. Was that intentional on the part of the author or subconsciously by Cross? At least Sampson was horrified and emotional about Sumner's murder.

Very Surprised

The description and sample read didn't do this book justice. I really started to skip this one. I kept thinking, uh-huh, just when I was really into this series and now a dud. I WAS WRONG! This may start a little slow but keep reading. There are twists and turns and I was hooked. And this was the book I didn't want to buy. It probably could have gotten 5 stars but the beginning was a little slow on the uptake.
