and with heavy heartswatch his beloved leave this mortal coil

I have followed this series from the start, read though the struggles, death, blue zeds, all with goals of the Clan coming to fruition. The author let us attend the kid's weddings, witness righteous punishment of those that threatened the Clan, and share in Bruce's riding "the wave", and with heavy hearts watch his beloved leave this mortal coil. The author has developed the persona of each clan member introduced, never getting stale or predictable, and allowed them to flourish without compromising the storyline.

The Blue Plague Series is without question one of the top series in this genre, and my personal favorite. My only complaint is the long time spent waiting for the next installment. If you are interested in this book, don't start here--get Blue Plague, the Fall, and plan on calling in sick at work, 'cuz you won't stop till you get to this new release!

Let's be honest here...

Well, after waiting for what seemed like years for this installment to come out it was finally released and I was ecstatic! Blue Plague is one of my favorite series and will most likely stay that way BUT Blue Plague:War is my least favorite so far. For starters, it is about 150 pages shorter than most of the other books, and that leaves out a LOT of story. Second, even with a publisher there are still misspellings, redundancies, and grammatical errors. It's not as bad as in previous books but still enough to cause a distraction. Third, it felt a bit like the story was cut short, like he just ran out of gas and left it a at that. And last, where is the action? Everything has become so lackadaisical and monotonous. Most of the action takes place between Bruce, Angela, and Stephanie and it's getting rather annoying. SPOILER ALERT: The whole fainting scene between the women, Mike, and Nancy is really quite ridiculous, as is the Bruce thing when he found out about the pregnancies. It's beginning to feel as if Mr. Watson is tiring of the Blue Plague series and is running out of gas. If that is the case, I would rather wait a little longer between books and have one epic edition that ties everything up and leave it at that. If that is not the case, please take more time and give us more meat and less salad. ;)

How do you make blue humanoid monsters scarier (when they already have super human strength, endurance and healing - and destroy humans as a general practice)... Give them a sword!

Bruce is back with the whole family, and things are ramping up.

Another tremendous work from Mr. Watson that leaves you screaming for the next installment. The growth and development of the characters has been chronicled perfectly, with no leaps or gaps. There is not one paragraph in this book that will do anything other than add to your enjoyment of this series

About the Author

Joseph Noggle received his B.S. in Chemistry from Juniata College, and his M.S. in Chemistry and Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Harvard University, where he was also a Postdoctoral Fellow. Noggle served as Assistant Professor of Chemistry at University of Wisconsin (Madison), from 1965-71. He is currently Professor of Chemistry at University of Delaware. He also has worked for The Dupont Company, Textile Fiber Department in Wilmington DE, as a Visiting Scientist

Noggle is the author of nine books, the most recent being PhysicalChemistry, Third Edition, Physical Chemistry Using Mathematica, and Physical Chemistry using Mathcad. His research specialty is nuclear magnetic resonance, for which he wrote the classic monograph The Nuclear Overhauser Effect: Chemical Applications.

Definitely the best p chem text I've ever used

I've used Noggle ten out of the past twelve years in my junior level physical chemistry course. It is very comprehensive, takes a rigorous theoretical approach, and I think was a leader in using an operator based method for quantum mechanics, as well as chpaters on Stat Mech. Having said all that I am alarmed by the student reviews here. I teach at a small liberal arts college with 5-15 students enrolled in physical chemistry, and I offer a lot of contact time for problem solving assistance. I guess I am hoping that the students who wrote awful reviews took the course at a much larger institution. I noticed that Noggle went to some effort to make the 3rd edition "easier" than the first two editions, so that the problems were a bit less challenging, and in so doing there were quite a few errors in the 3rd edition, as the students pointed out; this is a prime example of how making something easier makes it harder. In any case, I guess I would not recommend the use of this textbook in a large physical chemistry course where students do not have direct access to a knowledgeable professor who is available to them in abundant amounts. But I am going to keep using it, and praising Noggle as I do so for his mathematical approach to the subject of physical chemistry.

Great Pchem Book

This is the best physical chemistry book I have seen. I used it for my undergraduate class at the University of Delaware, where Noggle was my professor. It presents all of the basic thermo concepts (at an easier level than Sandler's text, definitely read Noggle concurrent with Sandler), statistical mechanics, diffusion, kinetics, and quantum mechanics. I still refer to this book regularly. It is an indispensable reference for a chemical engineer.

Professor Noggle passed away on March 13, 1998

Joseph H. Noggle was a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Delaware. He demonstrated a passion for three subjects-opera, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and computers. At the time of his unexpected death on March 13, 1998, he was looking forward to teaching an evening class on the Wagner Ring Cycle at the University of Delaware's Academy of Lifelong Learning.

Professor Noggle, who held a master's degree and a doctorate in chemistry from Harvard University, first taught at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, before going to the University of Delaware in 1971. He authored or co-authored a total of 35 research articles, all of which dealt with some aspect of NMR, and wrote the definitive treatice on The Nuclear Overhauser Effect: Chemical Applications.

Professor Noggle's love of computers led him to create amd teach the course "Computers in Chemistry," and six of his nine books dealt with applications of computer hardware and software to the teaching of physical chemistry. He served, not surprisingly, as the department's first and only webmaster.

Professor Noggle's crowning achievement, however, was "Physical Chemistry," now in its third edition. It has become the second most-used textbook in the country.

Recognizing Professor Noggle's quick wit and dry sense of humor, his e-mail by-line quoted humorist Dave Barry: "Megahertz: a really big Hertz."

About the Author

Christopher P. Scheitle is a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Sociology at the Pennsylvania State University. He is also the author of Beyond the Congregation: The World of Christian Nonprofits.

Roger Finke is Professor of Sociology and Religious Studies at the Pennsylvania State University and is Director of the Association of Religion Data Archives. He is the author of many books and articles, including The Churching of America, 1776-2005 with Rodney Stark.

A trip of faith

This book is not a general tour guide to multiple places of worship in the United States. Instead it is a tale of a specific journey to: Memphis, Houston, Colorado Springs, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Central Nebraska, Detroit, Brooklyn and Central; Pennsylvania.

It is interesting, in that the authors go to storefront churches, mega churches, synagogues, Islamic centers and temples. There are many colour pictures and some charts to show such as; population density of Nebraska, number of Mormon people per 1,000 and number of mega churches per 1,000,00 people.

There are the personal observations of the authors of the history and the people of the areas they meet on this specific road trip. It does give a good idea of the array of religions that exist in the United States.

About the Author
Clifford Whittingham Beers (1876 – 1943) was the founder of the American mental hygiene movement. Beers was born in New Haven, Connecticut to Ida and Robert Beers on March 30, 1876. He was one of five children, all of whom would suffer from psychological distress and would die in mental institutions, including Beers himself (see "Clifford W. Beers, Advocate for the Insane"). He graduated from the Sheffield Scientific School at Yale in 1897. In 1900 he was first confined to a private mental institution for depression and paranoia. He would later be confined to another private hospital as well as a state institution. During these periods he experienced and witnessed serious maltreatment at the hands of the staff. After the publication of A Mind That Found Itself (1908), an autobiographical account of his hospitalization and the abuses he suffered during, he gained the support of the medical profession and others in the work to reform the treatment of the mentally ill.

Groundbreaking work in the field of mental health

Clifford Whittingham Beers, 1876-1943, was the American founder of the mental hygiene movement, born in New Haven, Conn., grad. Sheffield Scientific School, Yale, 1897.

After the publication of this book, A Mind That Found Itself (1908), which is an autobiographical account of his confinement in a mental institution, he had the support of the medical profession and others in the work to prevent mental disorders. He was a leader in the field until his retirement in 1939.

This book is an amazing account of what it was like to be institutionalized at a time when mental illness received little attention or respect.

A groundbreaking effort towards the acceptance of mental health as a serious disease.

Simply an awesome read.

Great Account of Psychiatric Illness and the History of Mental Health

I have been a psychiatric nurse for 15 years, and enjoy reading about the history of psychiatry. I work with patients, who have chronic mental illness, and who have been in the mental health system for many decades. . .some who have been through the same "treatment" Mr. Beers had been through. Clifford Beers wrote his story and became one of the pioneers of mental health advocacy, evolving in the patient rights we have today. It's an interesting story and one worth reading.

Wonderful Book

I read old copy of this book back in 1977 when I began working in a state mental Health Hospital and found it in the nursing library. It is one of those books that I look back on as life changing as I beleive it affected my decision to get a degree and make a career in the Mental health field. It was very powerful.
