I have been a fan of the Dummies series for years and I recently started doing more SEO/ORM/ and online marketing for a start up I work for. I bought the book to help me understand more in depth about QR codes and how to best place/market them on materials we send out. To be honest the book is well written and gives you a great outline. The reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because you can find all this information online for free. I'm a person that likes to read hard copies of materials so I bought this for that reason. If you know nothing about QR codes or how to market them then please by all means buy this book. But if your a computer research junkie then just search and read through several QR and entrepreneur sites for tips and tricks.

Great read for reluctant adopters.

Within 15 minutes of starting to read Joe's book, I, a late adopter if there ever was one, had downloaded a reader to my phone and my iPad, connected with one QR (Joe's own website), and began to see how QR Codes might be useful. I write about nonprofit organizations so wanted to get up to speed about how nonprofits can use QR Codes for promotion, fundraising, volunteer work, etc. I wasn't disappointed. Joe's background is in nonprofit so he included plenty of examples of how QR Codes fit into charitable work. I highly recommend the book...a plus is that it is a quick read.

This book is intended as an introduction to the science of microlithography for those new to the subject, and it covers advanced topics useful to experienced lithographers who seek information outside their own areas of expertise. Numerous references to the literature in optical lithograpy will guide both novice and experienced lithographers who want greater detail in specific areas.

A number of discussions--such as thin-resist modeling, metrics for imaging, thin-film optics, and the modeling of focus effects--first appeared in Advanced Micro Design internal reports. Eventually, parts of these reports were published elsewhere. Their tutorial nature is not coincidental, as they were analyses that I used to develop my own understanding of lithography. Complex situations often are best comprehended through simple models that describe the relevant physics, with remaining effects considered as perturbations. This is the approach I used in learning lithography and it is the method used here.

Students in my classes on lithography science will recognize many of the figures and equations. Several also appear in the first chapter of the SPIE Handbook on Microlithography, Micromachining, and Microfabrication, Volume I: Microlithography, which I coauthored with Bill Arnold of ASM Lithography. Other topics have been added or significantly expanded, especially those concerning light sources, photomasks, and next-generation lithography. The chapter on photoresists is approached from the perspective of the practicing lithographer, rather than the resist chemist. Some knowledge of resist chemistry is essential for using resists properly, but the emphasis here is on operational considerations.

About the Author
Dr. Harry J. Levinson has worked in microlithography for nearly two decades, at companies such as IBM, Sierra Semiconductor, and Advanced Micro Devices. He has published many articles on lithography science, from thin film optical effects and metrics for imaging to overlay and process control. He teaches courses in lithography science, process control, and total quality management.

Review of "Principles of Lithography," 2nd edition by Harry J. Levinson.

This is an excellent book for engineers, whether in photolithography or not, to acquire an overview and understanding of modern deep sub-micron photolithography and the challenges microlithographers face. It is well written and easy to read. Levinson takes you through the entire process of lithography step by step with both the mathematics involved, but also, an intuitive explanation of what the technical issues involved are. The drawings done for the figures are done well and easily understood and printed with clarity. As for photos used for figures in the book, they are also well done, and of the proper brightness and contrast so that they are easy to view and comprehensible. They are not like some books, where you wonder if the illustration was a fifth generation photocopy or just incomprehensible.

Levinson also includes a chapter on metrology. If you are producing a microlithographic pattern you need to be able to measure it, and critical dimensions in lithography are not dues ex machina.

The book has problem exercises at the end of each chapter to allow the reader to test themselves on what they have learned. I also recommend working out many of the equations as an exercise.

Levinson also doesn't neglect the historical development of the practice of lithography. There is an explanation on why early lithography tended to have high overexposure and then went to 1:1 imaging and issues driving this. Also, there is a good chapter on the claims in the 1980s that optical lithography would not get past 1 micron resolution, and why this subsequently didn't prove to be true. Levinson bravely also writes up a section on the future limits of lithography and in a few years we will see if he was right. Regardless whether he will turn out to be right or not, it is an excellent explanation of the challenges involved. I think that there is an under appreciation that of the tremendous obstacles overcome in the advancement of microlithography. It isn't an automatic step down, and we do face the prospect that maybe 65 nm or 45 nm or 32 nm or 22nm will be the end.

Next generation lithography is not neglected either and Levinson reviews the technologies and challenges for each of them.

The book is a worthy successor to David Elliot's handbook on photolithography. (Perhaps some of you will regard that as paleolithography.) It is not expensive and should be on your book shelf.

I wrote a supplementary paper in WORD for this book. I work out some of the equations in more detail than the text making it easier to understand. Simply a beautiful, brilliant, artful book. Fluidly written, incredibly well-researched, so visually whipsmart. Also a true rarity: I can't think of a single place where you will find this topic, rich and sprawling, so elegantly distilled, and to such delightful effect. A history, a tutorial, an excavation, an inspired miscellany, all at once. A must-read for anyone interested in visual culture, fashion, design.

About the Author
Robin S. Swope is a writer and has been a Christian minister for more than nineteen years in mainline, evangelical and independent denominations. He holds a BA in biblical literature and a master of divinity degree in pastoral ministry and counseling. He has served as a missionary to Burkina Faso and has ministered to the homeless in New York City's Hell's Kitchen. He is the founder and chief officiate of Open Gate Ministerial Services and a Church Council member and pulpit minister of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Erie, Pennsylvania. He is also a freelance journalist for Examiner.com, has a column in the Tri-State Senior News and has also written for Fate magazine. His published books include A Walk with an Angel, An Exorcist's Field Guide and True Tales of the Unexplained. He has also contributed to Brad Steiger's "Real"

Great mix of the unexplained with history

I just finished the book, and was very impressed. Being a native of Northwestern Pennsylvania, of course I was very interested in the local folklore and stories. I found the historical side of the stories interesting as well. I will admit, I've always been a history buff and like old legends/folk tales/unexplained stories. However, even if you aren't into that type of stuff, but are from the NW PA region, i'd highly recomend this book.

Actually, anyone who is interested in the unexplained and folklore will probably like this book, whether they are familiar with the Northwestern Pennsylvania region or not. Rev. Swoope does a great job with his writing. He explains everything clearly and states the differing points of view regarding the phenomena. All in all, it's a good read.

It started out describing events in Erie County then Lake Erie. Anyway, it leaves you wondering about all these events and what they may actually portray. I have my thoughts on these matters and they have changed over the years. Spooky but revealing.

Great Book... Worth every penny

If you live in Erie, PA, or are familiar with the area, then stop reading and BUY THIS BOOK!!!
The writing style of the author is relaxed but respectful to the people and the area.
I felt like I was listening to a campfire story (without the gratuitous gore). This book has a little
supernatural, paranormal and extraterrestrial with a lot of local history. Like I said, this book
is worth every penny. A must to own!

Heaven is real

I thought this was a great book, I didnt see anything in it that wasn't biblical, as with all books match it against the Bible and eat the meat and throw away any bones.
I've read reviews in the past where people have given negative comments on such books as ( 90 minutes in heaven ) that there weren't enough space given to heaven and it focused to much on people's struggles with life before and after the event.
As for me I just cant concieve what they might be thinking. Don Piper, Ron Pettey, or the multitude of unknowns out there that God didn't impress upon them to write a book, I give them all a glowing recommendation. The Glory of Heaven could never be totally captured by human words anyway but the struggles, blessings and miracles that God gives his children before or after are of great encouragement. I've dug into NDE's, visions, dreams and I will say up front that some just plain old dont line up with the Bible and if you think im narrow minded in my belief's that Jesus is the only way then you would be right. I've known people who dont believe, wont believe and have gone beyond what is written ( or as in their own words they aren't confined to that Jedeo/Christian box anymore ) they are enlightened now. I pray that God keeps me in the box.
Knowing that God works miracles in his own time helps me to be patient and trust him more.
The author himself is a nice and very approachable man. He even shared with me about a question I had about his book on facebook before I ever purchased a copy.

A beautifully told story of Ron and Glanda's life. I'm looking forward to reading the next book written by Glenda after her husbands passing to heaven. She gives us hope and inspiration as a caregiver, helping her husband through his illness and embracing faith.

This is a small book, but it is packed with an incredible story about this man's journey to heaven. Biblically accurate and encouraging on many levels. The book also talks about the things his family went through and how he regained his memory, after 10 years of amnesia, after brain surgery. This book also proves to me, that time and reality are not the same in heaven, as it is on earth. The story of the young man and babies, takes my breath away!

Simply a great social history

Simply a great social history! We are witness to a revival of interest among historians in reexamining Spiritualism and its impact on society. Long ignored by academics as unworthy of study, Mark A. Lause's book goes toward remedying this by examining primary sources and providing a panoramic view of the impact Spiritualism had on American society in the mid-19th century. Spiritualists were the psychonauts of consciousness exploration, and pioneers in progressive movements that sought to make America a more egalitarian society. I don't think we realize today the significant impact Spiritualism had on American society, this influence for the good extended from education, women's rights, abolition, prison reform, care for the mentally ill, child labor reform, and nursing. In some small pockets it deviated into some silly ventures, such as free love communes, failed efforts at intentional communities, wrong headed dietary and clothing reform. Yet it's commitment to societal reform that uplifted all people is its enduring legacy.

The Civil War tested the mettle of American society, and Spiritualists stepped up to serve in the military as well as assist on the home front to alleviate the suffering and deprivation of thousands. It must be understood that President and Mrs. Lincoln, though not members of any Spiritualist movement were among those seeking to understand the mysteries of consciousness, attending and even hosting séances at the White House, President Lincoln's compassion and tenacity in the struggle were inspired in part by spiritualist literature and advisors.

Dr. Stephan Hoeller, has characterized religious movements as either revelatory, which identifies a divine event that occurred at some remote point in human history and all exoteric expressions of that event throughout time are mere variations & commentaries on this singular event This leads to a static world view. The other religious expression Hoeller identifies as gnostic, in which the divine is ever present and revealing itself through the communion of God and humankind. This leads to an world view rich in possibilities of progress and edification. Spiritualism is certainly gnostic in that regard. As Swedenborg observed, "Conscience is God's presence in man." Spiritualists fully grasped that idea, and felt in it a calling to become the 'better Angels of our nature' and in turn transform society into a better place for all.

Adding this work as well as Ann Braude's work, "Radical Spirits: Spiritualism and Women's Rights in 19th Century America, provides a sound foundation for understanding this movement.
Highly recommended.
